KS3 and KS4 Science Teacher

Website The Christian School, Takeley

Independent Christian School

We are a forward-thinking and innovative school, developing courses to meet the needs of a small, Christian school. This role might interest somebody who currently teaches science but would like to have an opportunity to teach in a Christian school, with small class numbers. The area for teaching is KS3 and KS4 science and may also include teaching science in KS2.  This role may be combined with the maths teacher post, also advertised.

We are looking for a candidate who has a passion for science and can engage the pupils through their and the pupils’ creativity.

Our school would value a caring, prayerful person able to understand individual pupil needs and how to manage small class groups of up to 12 pupils from year 7 to year 11.  Working well in a team is important to us.

Applicants should have experience of teaching at this age group and be able to give examples of good practice. We require our teachers to be qualified to degree level, and have teaching experience if not qualified to teach in the UK. We are looking for a candidate who has a flexible approach and can take into consideration the needs of individual pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities.

Teachers in our school can apply the Christian ethos and values of the school to the teaching of the pupils.

Safeguarding is very important at the school, and we follow safer recruitment procedures. CVs are not accepted, and two references will be required including one from your current or last employer. Each candidate will need to complete Safeguarding checks.

There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR) that the post holder is a Christian. We are an equal opportunities employer, and we will take into consideration a candidate’s faith as allowed in the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 22 paragraph 4. Regulation 7(2)a of the Employment Equality (Religion or Belief) Regulations 2003 applies.
