The Essential Christian Teacher course was launched in September 2013 in the North with the teaching course for the South being launched in September 2014.
The Core Team has long recognised the importance of supporting and developing teachers in member schools and we are very pleased to present this opportunity to develop staff, addressing the needs of our schools, now.
The Essential Christian Teacher aims to help teachers define what it means to be a genuinely Christian practitioner in the community of a Christian school of the type that are members of the Christian Schools’ Trust.
Teachers on the course do not have to be a qualified teacher but will need the opportunity to apply what they learn in their classrooms on a regular basis. If you have a teaching degree and experience, then this course will refine your practice; If you are new, young, or an inexperienced teacher, then this course will help lay vital foundations in your understanding and practice.
The course will help teachers focus on key aspects of their own development as an individual and will focus on their contributions to a Christian learning community.
We are also offering a component to the course for established teachers who hold posts of responsibility or who aspire to leadership in our schools. This component is offered at a time when the pioneering leaders are coming to the end of their time of influence in our schools. It is vital that the next set of school leaders are identified, equipped, and commissioned to lead schools into the future.
The course requires teachers to be released from their schools for five days a year.
